MYLITTLEAPARTMENT
The project, MyLittleApartment, is an interactive visualization of the interior design of my own apartment. At the start of this project, one of my primary objectives was to improve the efficiency and accuracy of communication on the construction site. MyLittleApartment connects me with contractors on-site by creating an immersive virtual environment in which they can see how my designs would look in real life and understand how different parts work together, with more clarity than architectural drawings.
The choice of graphic style for a project involving visualization was the most important decision that I had to make. I chose to use a stylized approach rather than a realistic one because the latter can be easily accomplished by using other architecture visualization tools. After the project reached the point where one could freely move around the space, I experimented with the "game's feel" by adding camera movements, sound effects for actions and footsteps, a cat that played around the house, etc. Graphics, audio, and NPCs bring my house to life. Finally, I included the feature to switch from the day to the night scene, showcasing the lighting design for the actual construction.
